Small fishing boats and huge cargo ships are both marine vessels. They are used for transportation, fishing, and scientific heritage research. clippers and large, modern, steel vessels carrying along the newest of technology, (green eyed GPS and radar), aid these ships in monstrous marine travels across the sea.
Historically, marine boats used the wind as a source of power to move them forward. The ship was sailed to catch the wind and steer it in the desired direction. However, with modern technology boats are now driven through the water by engines. Speedboats are often used for recreation, being able to travel at high or very high speeds.

Maritime vessels are essential means of international trade and travel. Cargo vessels haul goods (food, clothing, electronics, etc.) around the globe, connecting nations and cultures. Passenger ships make it possible for people to travel in style and comfort to remote destinations throughout the world.

Maritime ships also play an important role in the preservation of the ocean and marine life. Science ships are used to monitor the health of the oceans and the effect of human activity on marine environments. Patrol boats prevent illegal fishing and pollution which keep our oceans clean and fit for future generations.

One of the best things about boats is their duality. They can be fitted out with specialized equipment, like cranes to hoist heavy cargo or sonar to find things underwater. Some watercraft can even submerge below the water and explore the deep sea.
